A day in Bahrain
We had to hop to Bahrain for my Visa renewal.
Every three months it makes for a nice, short time out.
This time we decided to do only a day trip.
Cheaper, a lot cheaper and still good enough to get out and get some action.
I was a bit concerned about the dogs, but then again, it was only for 12 hours and when we fly somewhere they are in the Kennel for at least that amount of time.
(Turned out they were fine indeed, no problem)
——————–
We got up at around 4 a.m. and left the house at 5.30.
Well, we wanted to, but the Taxi I ordered sure enough wasn’t there yet.
Two phone calls later (I don’t give them the 5 minutes waiting time no more, no point), which he pushed away, he called me back “Sorry Mam, will be there in 7 minutes”
Seven? Alright….
It was more like 15, but he was there and we arrived at the airport just in time.
I’m glad, we weren’t there earlier, because it was freezing in the Check In Hall. And I literally mean freezing. I could see my breath.
Did I mention I don’t have no boots, I was wearing Sandals. Cold!
But at least on the airplane it was nice and cozy. And for the first time we did not have a Mr. HashHash called out and we left right on time.
The plane was packed, but that was to be expected on a weekend.
Follow up:
For the first time a steward told me to keep my camera shut off, because it’s not allowed to take pictures at the airport. Makes sense, but a) I didn’t see no signs and b) well, how can I take pictures when the camera is off? and c) you better take care of those Morons which don’t shut off their phones, Dude

This white plane is irritating. Wonder what it is used for.
For the first time on these flights we had clouds and a tanker under our wings

Arrival in Bahrain was quick and uneventful.
We hopped in a Taxi
and went for the Novotel

to have breakfast. Very yummie!
Booked a room for the day, had a good nap
and left the Hotel around 12
for a quick hop to Seef mall
.
That’s when we learned that there’s a big holiday on that weekend and most taxi drivers are off for 4 days.
The shop where hubby wanted to buy socks for work was closed and I didn’t have no luck with shoes either, so we left for our favorite destination: “Krumz Bistro“.
The taxi driver ripped us off, like all the others as well, thanks to the holiday. At least we learned that it was some sort of a Shiite holiday, still no clue what it really was about, just wondering why they have holiday after holiday in the Arab world.
Anyhow, our stay at Krumz was great as usual, my cheeks still hurt from laughing that much. We met great people again and envy them for living in Bahrain
!
My favorite quote of the day was “White boys are boring".
My reply “Tell me about it” had the bar rolling for a short while
.
(Hubby is Mexican American, so not white, he’s brown
)
The flight home was uneventful as well and the dogs greeted us ferociously and have been all good. No destroyed furniture and no accidents.
I was very proud of them

Shooting through glass and such
The bra, well, go figure ;0
Yepp, border hopping
I'm not sure about the holiday thing, since Ramadan there seems to be nothing else but holidays
@Øyvind
Not a problem
Grin!
That Visa can run for years, I just have to get out of the country after three months and can come back the same day.
sounds like you had quite the adventure!
And that food is always delicious!!!!
LOL the bra does represent a relaxing nap!
Glad you had fun!
Yeah, I was relieved too, that they did quite well.
Then again, a flight in a box is much worse than spending a day at home in company
@Lou
Really? That's cool
He's not dark dark, but darker than me for sure and quite tall for a Mexican
@Annie
Thanks
It actually was inside the plane when they told me to shut off my camera, but we were still at the airport. He explained it with "no pictures at the airport areal"
Whatever
That scratches Kuwait airport for me, if ever I need to do a visa run *grin*
The ground staff at the Qatar airport do that too... I mean prohibit you from taking pictures. They should lighten up, jeez... it's only the airplane wing I want to take a picture of!
It was a relief to get on the plane and to find Bahrain airport warm.
Who in his right mind wants to go to Kuwait for a Visa run anyway?

Rofl, you can see everything you need to see with google earth anyway
