Ready for one last round of storm in the early morning hours.
But it was only a small last ‘hit’ before the sun made
the clouds evaporate.

The Cattle Egrets enjoyed their ‘day off’.
They usually fly to the Small Sewers to drink and feed.
This day they didn’t have to.

Instead of mopping off the water that was still dribbling (for the next 6 hours)
out of the AC system and getting rid of the new swimming pool our terrace
had turned into, I decided to go, venture out and take pics of the world outside -
if it was still there that is.

Above you see what the compound looked like.
The guys tried hard to keep the water out and built barriers.
One disadvantage when you build a place in a ‘valley’, I guess is
that the water comes in when it rains.

Still, we were better of than the areas down at the ‘Old market’ and the Shops in Naama bay.
Many seem to be destroyed.
I haven’t gone there.
The reason for that will follow in my next post.
Swimming taxis are not really my piece of cake.

Der Himmel sieht ja sehr dramatisch aus und das Wasser wird sicher schnell wieder verdunsten ...

@BengBeng - I usually do to.
Well, not that much of it here, but at least it's cool for once ;)

@Ingrid - der Himmel war wirklich dramatisch.
Und irgendwie hat's wohl heute Nacht nochmal ohne viel TamTam geregnet. Die Pfuetzen waren naemlich heute morgen wieder groesser ;)

When I was a kid, we were driving to California and stopped along the way to look out over the "Painted Desert". We saw RAIN, on the Painted Desert - a VERY rare occurrence.

Lucky you, Lou.
Not so sure I am sorry that I missed it over here, since severe flooding was part of this game ;)

Hi Nicole
My husband and I were actually there, the storm was amazing to watch but the poor Egyptians didn't know where to turn because of devastation. Hotels in Nama Bay closed because roofs caved in.
Paddled into our hotel room to find our cases floating in 4cm water.
The journey home was terrible, terminal 2 shut because of damage so everybody used terminal 1. No communication in or out of Sharm by either phone or email so they didn't know when planes were landing until they physically saw them. Travel reps were as in the dark, information wise, as holiday makers.
Some serious delays going on.

Got home early this morning (Tuesday 20th) delayed a couple of hours but I think we were the lucky ones.
Thoughts go out to the Egyptians because I think it may take some time to recover from it.

looks sad.
I didn't know about that what Julie was writing. We're in the same country but we don't know what's happening 'over there'...
Hope it's not getting worse!

@Julie - thanks for that report.
I could see you in a rubber boat going to your room in front of my mental eye :>>
Glad you got out safe though!

It was, Dan - I saw one pic yesterday with 5 lightning strokes in one shot.
I sucked at those shots, too busy not to get soaked.

@BLOGitse - and up to today there's still no news coverage that is worth talking about :(

Thanks, Amanda - you stay safe too!!

BLOGiste - you're totally right. I haven't really seen any news about this (only the bit about the man getting killed on the Nile and my mum rang and told me about that) Don't think anyone can really believe how bad it was because it's not been widely reported.
