Csokonyavisonta XV. Fogathajtó 2009

Literal translation “15th Postilion contest in Csokonyavisonta”
(Postilion - wiki)

This is something that happens every year in our little village.
Usually with a big cookout festival.
That’s canceled this year, sadly enough.

I was surprised too that there was no press or anything for this event, I barely saw the poster last week.
Oh well, welcome to Hungary.

The show was well worth my time though.

They had big carts and small carts in a mix - one after another and small carts with ponys after that.

There was also a small show at the end with a guy clad in the traditional clothing, riding his horse and using his whip.
I only got pictures from “behind” since I didn’t really get what was going on. Oh well.

A few shots are already fixed and posted to my gallery - I did a bit of overexposing today, so, I’ll have a bit of work to do.

How sad that it was canceled. Great photo. It must have been very fun when they had it. The other pictures were awesome. When I clicked on the slide show I got this: Invalid linking to the slideshow page.

Thanks, Thom.
Slideshow is here now.
My blog software doesn't like Hungarian symbols ;)

The horse cart tournament DID take place this year, just the real festival around it didn't.

They usually have a contest for cooking goulash and such things.

The slide show was great. Too bad there was no food. That would have been incredible.

Thanks, Quilly.
They had some Goulash there, but like I said, they usually have a big contest, where they cook with many cooks.
Just laziness from the mayor's part.
All is going downhill here to lazy mayors that just think of their own profit and how they can achieve a lot with minimum effort. :(

Why wouldn't they advertise it more?! That looks like a great event!

There always seems to be something going on there, Nicole. Or maybe you just have the knack of seeking it out! They need to use you as the keeper of the village chronicles!
