OK, I know I promised more pictures of this Beauty.
But I also wanted to provide some Information of what this ship is about.
I know I had some somewhere, but I can’t find it.
I found a whole lot of new links for my Kuwait collection though.
Seems like Kuwait is finally getting the idea of better marketing their place to get Tourists.
Still way to go, but someone is doing something ![]()
I’ll keep looking and post the whole Set - with information - as soon as I have found it ![]()
Promise.
The biggest aquarium of the Middle East is located in the Scientific Center in Kuwait.
It is located at the waterfront at Ras Al-Ardh in the Salmiya area.
It contains a variety of attractions: a Dhow harbor, the Aquarium with various animals and a small area with wild animals that are at home in Kuwait, a 250 seat IMAX Theater, the 1400 sqm Discovery place with educational games and experiments, a neat Gift Shop, a one kilometer long path along the coast with two 70 meter long fishing piers (with seating, shade and beacons)and direct access to the sea.
The Complex covers an area of 80.000 square meters, 18.000 are dedicated to the Center itself.
With big sails serving as a roof, the building reminds of Kuwait’s sea heritage.
The Dhow harbor contains the only surviving Kuwaiti sailing ship from the pre-oil era and five smaller dhows. The largest ship is named “Fateh El-Kheir", translated into the “advent of all good". It once was a cargo ship. The smaller ones have been used for pearl diving and fishing.

Yesterday I decided to walk back from Fahaheel.
I didn’t buy much stuff at the Sultan Center so it wasn’t a big deal.
I wasn’t in the mood to get mad at taxi drivers anyway
.
It was nice, not warm, not cold and I took my time.
Caught a few impressions along the way.
(Once again, my camera doesn’t like hazy weather, so please excuse the quality ![]()
The dreaded splotch on my sensor is back too - probably there all the time and just comes out at certain color types, sigh….
)
Fishing boat (Dhau - or was this one the one with the other name? I will look it up later) on it’s way out to the sea. (I had some trouble to see where the horizon ends and the ocean starts on this one. I left the grain, if I remove it, there’s probably no picture left
)
