Friday market in Kuwait (Al Shuwaikh - Souk Juma)
Friday market - Souq Juma
‘'’Shuwaikh”’ (الشويخ
The majority of Kuwait’s ports and several offices reside in the area.
This area also contains the Friday market ( Souq al-Juma) at Al-Rai place (Fourth Ring Road).
It starts every Friday early in the morning and goes until Saturday evening.
You can find used stuff and new stuff, clothes, designer clothes, Materials to make clothes, furniture, carpets, animals, plants, antiques and souvenirs,…
You DO need to bargain or you get cheated.
IMPORTANT NOTICE!
A friend of mine got her wallet stolen at the Friday market.
Due to police information, there is a mafia ring at the market.
Under all circumstances, try to go with a friend and NOT alone.
If you have to go alone, keep an eye on your wallet at all times, keep your handbag unzipped and be careful and watchful!

If you treasures are getting too heavy, you will find guys running around eager to take the bags from you.
Don’t worry, they will follow you everywhere and it depends on you what you want to pay them.

You find things that might be totally useless to us, but useful to others.
A friend of mine found one of her old transformers here, she recognized it by a piece of tape with her handwriting on it.
She had thrown it away the week before. At least the "shop owner" didn’t claim that it would work

and interesting Photo ops

That looks like fun, although the risk of pickpockets is a little scary. I love flea markets where you never know what you'll find.

Very interesting photos; it must be great to visit such a market and buy a new perfume, Lancôme for example. I wonder whtat was inside, haha.

Interesting and colorful! The pic of the guy reclining in the wheel barrow (photo op) gave me an idea...it would be to upholster a wheel barrow and make it into a lounge chair! Thanks!!

It is an awesome place.
They sell furniture there (new one), plants for the garden and animals....I never made it to the animal part. I think I would have been sick to the bone and ranting for a whole month. So maybe that's better
It's comparable to any flea market, just that they have much more junk (like you can tell by the bikes)

Interesting post!!
Did they pose for free or did they want money?
In Morocco they want money. You have to pay for their smile!
