There was a time when the Arab world represented the pinnacle of knowledge and culture. If not for the Arabs, the knowledge they kept alive while Europe struggled through the Dark Ages, the concepts they developed and the art and architecture produced, this would be a darker and more dismal world today. That said, their attitudes are stuck in the Middles Ages and it is just intolerably stupid that in this 'enlightened' day and age, these idiots can rape their wives and the woman will be told "Sorry, we can do nothing, you are legally married." They can beat their wives with the same result. Since when are Men better than Women? Since when do men have more rights than women? I am appalled.

it's because they're terrorist, right?

at any rate, it is a shame that a once great culture has such problems. but look at any patriarchal oppressive society and you'll see the same abuses. it took strong women and strong men to get rights for women here, it'll take even stronger ones in that society to get anything to happen there.

This reminds me not to take my freedom for granted. I am always amazed by people who find the strength to fight for their beliefs at any price. I don't know how they keep going.

You find this patriarchal thinking in most of our cultures now.
It has been different many many years ago, but the invention of the main religions changed things.

I don't know where people like this woman get the strength to go on, but I sure admire her for it!

Maybe one day men and women can get along as normal again as they used to & can accept each other as equals, who knows.
