Irony

by NicoleB Email

Am I the only one that thinks it a bit ironic that Bush in Saudi suggests to the Amir to free the Saudi blogger Fouad Ahmad Alfarhan (one of the first that wrote under his real name) that got arrested 11th of December and is in custody since then without any charges. Legally the government can hold him for three months.

I think it’s Ironic, because the Saudi government pulls all off a sudden the “He’s a suspected terrorist” string.

Now, what about that prison where the US holds terror suspect without charging them, letting them see anyone, etc. for HOW long?
And now they go, once again, to another country and ask them to do what they don’t do themselves. I call it Ironic.

Don’t get me wrong, I wish Fouad Ahmad Alfarhan would be freed instantly.
And I wish stuff like that would not happen.
I think, Fouad Ahmad Alfarhan was originally arrested because he criticized the Amir or government. Using his right of free speech is not good in some places of this world? Correct me, if I got it wrong. Here’s a letter that he sent a few days before his arrest to his friends.

I can not even BEGIN to tell you how annoyed I am by my government's hypocritical stance on just about everything.

Makes me SICK.

Nicole - I have another word for some of President Bush's behaviour, but I don't want to put profanities on your blog.

I've signed the petition and I hope he gets out soon. It is absolutely appalling that we're still living in a world where you can be locked up just for speaking your own mind.

Thanks for making people aware of this case.

I posted about Fouad a while ago. You know who is controlling the new world nicole, and I see no bright future for the world with them controlling it.

I actually thought that everyone knows it by now.

In Kuwait you still have to be careful about what and how you write things as well.

In China one blogger got killed two days ago.

And I doubt it matters who rules the world, nationwise.

They are all a greedy bunch and only money counts.

If you have a blog and think that this is an injustice and Fouad Ahmad Alfarhan should be freed, post about him on your blog and link to the petition.
Thanks!

President Bush has made the world a more dangerous place, for sure. I am so glad he will soon be replaced - hopefully by Obama. That said, the Saudi were like that a long time before Bush. And they'll remain like that long after he's gone. The Middle East is now, and has been for a long time, a dangerous place for Women and Free Speech.

I might also add that Free Speech can have you looking over your shoulder in this country, too. That is the REAL shame of Bush and the Christian Right. Civil liberties and personal freedoms have been eroded in the name of 'Security' - and we, the American people, have stood by and let it happen. Shame on us, too.

In regards to the Presidential Hopefuls, I don't know which one I would vote for if I was in the shoes of voting.
But Obama and Hilary sure wouldn't be my Prime candidates. There's just something about their attitude that strikes a nerve in my guts.

And yes, about the looking over your shoulder thing, so true. A blog entry about that is bouncing through my head since this morning.
