Michaelskapelle, Bad Godesberg

A beautiful small chapel situated besides the Godesburg in Bad Godesberg.

It was built 1210, destroyed 1583 and rebuilt around 1660.

Gorgeous! Oh the history! America is just too young! And, most of the old building s we do have get torn down and replaced by new! I love visual history I must be European at heart.

Yes, quilly,
I often wonder how it must have been all those years ago.
And I too think, it's amazing to see structures from those times.

Many buildings are protected now and can't be changed or torn down.

Many old houses get torn down shortly before they become protected, because the upkeep is so expensive.

Such history! I look at the dates and realize that my country is a baby! I do not feel that we in the 21st Century are as architecturally creative as they were centuries ago. I know that our styles are simply different, but I must wonder if they will stand the test of time. I really don't think so.

Bad Godesberg looks like a lovely place, Nicole, especially if this chapel is anything to go by! I hope you're having a great time with your family and friends in Germany. I was thinking how different it will be for King and JoJo when you get to Egypt and they will have daily swims in the sea instead of the lakes!
