Grand Mosque Snap
A bit more about the Grand Mosque Kuwait over here

Btw. is anyone of you already a member of InterNations?
That’s a pretty new social networking site, started by some Germans last year - especially for Expats
.
Right now it’s with invitation only.
If you are interested, drop a comment and I’ll invite you.
Renovation
Lately they renovate a lot of mosques around here.
Ours here in Mangaf finally gets done too.
This one is in Fahaheel.
As far as I have learned mosques are sponsored by private people (and named after them?).
I’m not sure who pays for the upkeep though.
Some little add on here, found by Miss Intlxpatr.
Did you know that you actually can tell a difference in some cases between a Sunni and a Shiite mosque?
Glimpses
I walked back home from Fahaheel yesterday.
The weather was nice and I wasn’t in the mood for yet another weird Taxi driver.
It was worth it.
I got some neat shots of the new mosque and of some people at the beach.
You can see that it was still quite hazy.
I hope today it will be finally all clear again.
I will be out for another walk with a Kuwaiti woman this morning.
Am all exited ![]()
We originally wanted to go to Mangaf beach to do some clean-up.
But I can’t let King run right now.
He pulled a muscle the other day while hunting either that cat, that bird or that poor doggie.
He’s alright, just needs to rest. That old man has that every once in a while and acts like a typical man. Bitching and whining with every move ![]()
Since when do they have that big screen on top of the NBK building?
It displays beautiful flowers, puppies and kittens….
Like we really need more people buying cute kittens and puppies in this place?

The new mosque.
Via Intlxpatr I learned the other day that they tore down the old mosque two years ago and obviously have been very smart in the act, which created a big mess and it took them two years to clean it up.
This mosque is under construction now since at least beginning of last year. I took my first pics of it when I got here in April, so I will show you the whole series as soon as it’s completely finished
.

And this is how you can enjoy the beach in Kuwait ![]()

Sorry girls, no offense. But I so love those chairs
.
They did put up some new signs at the gulf road (opposite of the mosque), or I haven’t seen them yet.
Try to attract tourists? Muah ![]()

(Sorry for the weird angle, but I didn’t want the traffic to kick my butt - yet another reason why I love my cam: I can twist the display
!)
Failaka Island
Some glimpses.
More Information & Photos about what Failaka Island is and how to get there, what to do there with a bit of history on my website.
These are just some shots I wanted to add and use to take you on a small tour
.
Souvenir Shops and a tea & Shisha place at the Failaka heritage village

Camel ride anyone?
