This heron is small (50cm / wingspan 90cm), stocky and white.
It’s usually seen in flocks on fields or meadows, associated with Livestock.
Unless most other herons, it is usually found away from water.
During the breeding season, the plumage on head, back and breast turn orange.
The bill and legs turn red during that time.
Patchily distributed in the Middle East.
Breeding places in Egypt: Nile Delta and Nile Valley

I don't know how it came to be, but we have cattle egrets in Hawaii even though we have no cattle! They hang out along the roadsides munching our abundant bug life.
