There are lots of these around our compound.
Mainly hanging out in the Zoo area.

Lots of other pigeons and various doves as well.

When the sun rises, you can see two huge flocks of doves and pigeons take off.
A few minutes later a flock of at least 30 Cattle Egret takes off.
They are here since about 3 weeks.
It’s spectacular to watch :)

Lots of Info here

Aren't doves and pigeons closely related?

I've never heard of a laughing dove. Here we see mourning doves. So called, I think because doves take on one partner, as though married. If the mate dies, the other mourns. In the southwest there are Mexican doves that migrate up over the border. They are a smaller dove. The breast of the dove is very tasty. It takes about 4 to 6 dove breasts to make a meal. I have hunted and eaten dove, but I always had mixed emotions since it is a symbol of peace, and I just shot it. But, like I say, it is quite tasty. (Remove breast, by pressing in and pulling up from just below it with the thumb. Remove feathers. Wash. Wrap a slice of bacon around it and grill on an open fire. )

Thanks everyone!

Not sure what exactly the difference between a dove and a pigeon is.
I need to look that up one day.

They had pigeon breast here on one of the menus, but honestly, I would be afraid over here, seeing what some animals get to eat...

The mourning dove has some different colouring on the wings, Michelle and it doesn't have the patch on the throat :)

Lovely image. Doves are among my favorite birds. The 'laughing' part is a fun combination. I'm now curious about their call!
