Not needed any more

Things you don’t need any more, you just throw away. Right where you are.
That’s what seems to be the mentality in Kuwait. Especially at the beach.
If you go there every day and collect all kinds of clothes and utilities, you have half a wardrobe and household together at the end of the week….

Nicht mehr benoetigt

Sachen, die man nicht mehr braucht, schmeisst man einfach weg. Da, wo man grade steht.

Hmmm...are those swimming goggles...or a bikini top? For a couple of years I lived near a private university, and at the end of each semester, the trash dumpsters were full of many useful things the kids could not figure out how to haul home. I furnished much of my apartment with their throw away gear! I was the Jacques Cousteau of dumpster diving in a consumer driven throw-away society!

Yellowknife is the same way: the streets are strewn with cast-off clothing. Not just mittens -- that's almost to be expected -- but shirts, pants, sweaters and hats.

I suspect that it has something to do with people getting drunk and thinking they're too hot.

@Dan - goggles ;)
I can imagine that you could find lots of useful things there. The people in Kuwait were always eager too when the Expats left their apartments. Always something useful left behind.
In Korea I got some of our furniture from the dumpster too and pictures on the wall and such :)

@Megan - all kinds of clothes?
WOW, I wonder what they'll look like when the cops stop their cars and they are half naked.

I think a lot of clothes here at the beach came also from ships / sailors that dropped them in the ocean.

As it happens we are currently in need of a pair of these...! Here on Isle of Wight after the two music festivals people leave all kinds of quality camping gear. Local groups are invited to collect it, so our Scout groups and similar are never short of tents! Last year my son went with a group to a jamboree in Poland and they took some of these cast-off tents and then left them for the Polish hosts, which I thought was recycling of the highest order.

WOW, Janice.
Now that's really cool.
How can one leave high end camping gear behind |-|?
Those people must have too much money.
I remember how much my stuff has cost me and that was ten years ago.
Oh well, some people just have too much money.
Glad you guys get some use out of it and even "recycle" it :DD!

Nicole,
your shot and you words are at odds. I understand your anger over the social blunders of cultures that act as though life and all that is in it is disposable and the planet we live on is not worth keeping healthy and clean for our next generations or even our neighbors. But your photo feels like a hallmark card you know its the end of a wonderful day at the beach, sun is setting playing is done..... very nice!
