Plane crash memorial

Plane crash memorial Sharm el Sheikh
Plane crash memorial Sharm el Sheikh
Plane crash memorial Sharm el Sheikh

On January 3rd 2004 a Boeing 737 crashed into the Red sea here in Sharm el Sheikh, killing the 148 people aboard.
The reasons for the crash are unknown to this day.

A few days ago I visited the memorial.
Regarding the names on the monument, whole families were wiped out it seems.

It’s hard for me to fathom that anything that cruel could happen at a beautiful place like this.

I remember that horrible case . It scared my dad a lot because we were just preparing to go home via Egypt ...After this we rather chose to go home via Frankfurt .

have you heard anything about the cause of the crash ?

I can imagine, Alma :(

Nope, from all the things I found on google, none mentions the cause.

The depth of the water where the plane crashed is about 1000 feet.
Maybe that's why they couldn't find the cause?

Death is no respecter of beauty or social class. Even so, such things hurt my soul, too.

Sad to think about. Here, the current news is of a flight crew which dozed off mid-flight. They didn't crash, but over-shot their destination by 150 miles before waking up! OMG!
