Policemen in Kuwait
Did you know that Kuwaiti policemen have to pay the costs for any damages on their police cars?
They recently got new cars from the ministry but want their old ones back. The repair costs for the new ones are too expensive.
Uhm…..
Why don’t they have to buy their police car themselves to begin with?

I think so too, Lou
But then again, you can cross this country in three hours or so, where would the criminals go to?
Not sure, Linus.
I'm not getting the point why one should pay for a work tool.....

Sorry, Gerli,
I can't help you in that regard.
I am not in Kuwait any more.

Basically its a simple thought process, some of these police officers are not up to the responsibility of having these cars, and the only way to keep them in check is to place the damages of these vehicles on the officers.
The maintenance is not paid by the officer but if he has an accident off -duty then he has to fix it. That is why many of them didn't want the new BMW 5 series by in the late 90s

Off Duty?
See, the newspaper didn't mention that.
That makes more sense.
