How often do they do those Nicole? Is it at specific time of day or random? Where do they come from and what are they for?

Sorry for all the questions, but I like to find out what goes on in other parts of the world.

It's so different... It's neat to hear it from Canada in mid-winter.

@Catherine

They do it, I think, 5 times a day.
A longer one to call the people to the mosque and one at the beginning of the prayer (shorter) about half an hour later.
The times for prayers are posted every day in the paper too, but the tradition is that the believers are called by the muezzin.
I don't get the where they come from question, sorry, only 5 a.m. here ;)
The calls are like church bells, *wake up, come pray* :)

Keep them questions coming. Fine with me :)!

Most times I like it too, Sparkling Red :D
At least as long as our bedroom window doesn't face the mosque head on, because they are pretty loud ;)

I love the adhan as it is called but I agree some people just don't have the right voices to do it. It just ruins the whole thing. A good one on the other hand gives me goosebumps :) (or tears)
