Snow - it's winter yeah :D

It started last night:

And it was pretty white this morning :)

The dogs had fun too

(These are btw. unconverted RAW (NEF) files.
I just tested if I can upload them without conversion - I can.
Now, THAT makes Life a lot easier ;)
I later on that short walk saw that my ISO settings were boosted to 4000 and I went “HUH?! WTF?!” Checked, played around and hopefully have it set right now. That might have been the reason my shots turned out with so much noise, dooh!
Just checked, still noise. I will keep trying. One day I’ll get the hang, sigh ;) )

————————————————-

Since Ning / Scratch it doesn’t accept my Sign in for now, I have transformed my Gallery into a Photofun Site.

I will post most of my experiments and experiences over there.

Just so that I don’t have to worry about flooding your poor blog readers with more than two posts a day ;)

You can find it here

Oh I love snow!

I haven't really played around with the ISO settings. Maybe try it this weekend?

Go for it.

I still don't know why that thing all of a sudden insists on shooting ISO 8000 (?!) since I switched to RAW.
I guess, reading the manual would (once again) help.

;)

The GREAT thing about DSLR (Or digital cameras in general) is the ISO settings. You no longer need BIG glass to shoot in low light. You no longer need BIG glass to stop action. One lens. Many shooting situations covered. Because you can turn up the ISO. And the better the camera, the higher you can go with ISO before you start to pick up too much noise.

Well for ISO 4000 your shots look pretty good, generally the higher the ISO, the more noise you get - depending on the amount of light.

Maybe with "heat" of the snow, the high ISO isn't a problem, especially if you have a high shutter speed.

For my old 20d, I crank up the ISO when the light gets lower, but I like to shoot between 100 & 400, anything more and I have a lot of clean up to do in post-processing...

I wish it would snow more here, we're stuck in a high pressure system so no snow, but lots of fog, which does make for some nice pictures (If I could get out)

That's one thing I love about it, Lou :)

I'm not sure I even read this right (I'm pretty sure it says it on the display though), Jonathan. I really need to check that manual ;)

100 and 400 seems to be a normal range. I think I messed up something somewhere in the settings (again).I'll find it - one day :P

I know hat you mean about getting out and snow / fog. I'm getting tired of "da ville". Maybe tomorrow ;)
Then again, I sure as heck miss a great forest with misty fog Photo Ops, sigh :)

Oh, I wish I understood as well. But I am learning. The dogs look like they're having so much fun. We have a lotof snow today as well. I want the powers to be to create a day where I can call into work and have a "camera day". A day to just go use my camera!

Nicole, I call it RTFM (Read the f@@ manual)

No worries though. I only refer to them when I am in trouble:)

Also, I was able to log on to scratch. Wonder why you can't log on.
