Sharm el Sheikh has seen the worst storm in over a decade.
And we were here.

Aren’t we lucky?

The above are only a few pics from the night (which we spent partly in mopping water off the floor which came in through the door and the ingeniously technicianed AC system *coughcough*).

We were safe during the whole thing, just without water and electricity until after 4pm yesterday an without Internet and phone service until this morning (or some time this night).

Others weren’t so lucky.
It seems part of the old airport roof has collapsed and injured some people.
Streets were washed out all over Sinai.

Thanks, quilly.

Pics are far from great, but what does one expect at 10.30 pm when one has to fiddle with long handheld exposure and can't get the settings right :P

@Kvelli - Danke.
Es hat wohl mind. 1 Briten 'erwischt' und 1 Italiener leicht verletzt.
Mehr bekomt man im Moment nicht raus.
'Man' will ja nicht die Touristen vergraulen...

@BLOGitse - the worst part was actually in the areas near the ocean where the ground water level is zero.
Haven't gone there though.
Not THAT much of a Papparazzi

@Dan - Thanks

@Ingrid - Ja, das haette fuer ein Fussbad (Schlammbad?) gereicht.
Wenigstens ist der Balkon / das Dach jetzt entstaubt |-|

Glad that you are ok and thanks for posting the pictures!
Just got back home from Sharm (left on 17.0 morning). Can admit that there was quite big waves in naama bay some days before the storm - everyone were suprised.
Take care!

myself and my family were in the airport at the time of the storm we were grounded sat in the plane for 3 hours before it was safe enough for us to take off, it was not the best end to our holiday we are just hoping that there is not to much damage for them to repair.
we will go back there though in the summer despite that scarey night.

We were also in the airport during the storm in sharm, the roof literally fell down around us. Was a disaster, our flight delayed for 24 hrs. No runing water, electricity or phone networks. We are glad to be home now, but will defo be back once repairs are done :).

Hey. Great photos. I was there, sitting at my window in the Badawia hotel is disbelief. Our electricity went out, water poured through our door and I sat there filming the lightning. We couldn't dive, travel very far or visit Ras Mohammed for 2 days afterwards, but from the sounds of it that was nothing compared to some people's experience. You've captured some wonderful shots.
