Swastika , Buddhism and idiots on zazzle

I just posted about this topic yesterday.

Today Zazzle is going to pull one of my designs because it sports the Swastika.

The Buddhist one, not the Nazi one.

This is what I had in my email this morning. To say I’m pissed doesn’t really express it nearly well enough.

(Click for bigger)

Here’s my reply and I tried to stay as polite as I could.
Honestly, I am shaking right now and would love to strangle someone.

Hello,
the design you are pulling is a Photograph of a Buddhist temple in Korea.
The Swastika you see there is a symbol of Good Luck and can be seen everywhere in Asia.
You can even see it in the US.

I would suggest that you please read up on the differences between the Nazi Swastika and the one that is used in this picture.
You can do so on my Site where I explained some differences a while back:
http://nicoleb.org/b2/index.php/think
or simply use wiki for that.

I would highly appreciate if you would leave my design where it is or suggest to you that you pull all designs with a cross, because they offend me.

Best regards,
Nicole

Update:

They already DID pull all my products that had the Swastika on them.
About 30 at least.

Thanks, Zazzle. It will be a pleasure to make more business with idiots that are too stupid to make a difference between religious symbols and banned symbols!

Btw. this is the temple and sign in question:

And the discussion over in the zazzle forum, in case someone wants to take a peek > Forum <
I bet it will be deleted by tomorrow morning anyway.

Update:

Last week I sent an email to zazzle support instead of content review

Customer (Nicole) 05/16/2009 10:43 AM
Hello,
since I have not gotten a reply to the attached email by your content review team, I forward this email to the support team.
Can you please explain to me, why my products were pulled?!
Best regards, Nicole

and today, 20th of May I got this message back:

Dear Nicole,

Thank you for your email.

Based on your representations, we would be happy to have your design in our marketplace. Feel free to re-submit your design. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Best Regards,
Erik
Content Management Team
Zazzle.com, Inc.

Now, that’s nice enough. But do I really want to go through making all these products again only to have one smart brain delete them again in a year from now?!

Maybe they need to remove the report button. Seems to me from the forum some live to report. Remind you of another place and time?

Just one more indication of how much idiots run the world....and they run it into the ground! Good for you for speaking your mind, and it was well said and shows great restraint in not containing a dozen four-letter expletives!

Scriber, the Cross is not offending me. :)
It is just an example.

It could offend millions of people, including the Jews and Muslims.
In the name of the cross (God) millions of people were killed during the crusades and during the witch hunts.

Nicole,
your letter ...awesome but obviously falling on deaf ears but super glad you sent it to them and defended your position.
Most anyone that has any inclination to learn about their world would be willing to understand that the Swastika is a very ancient symbol used for thousands of years before the Nazi's created their monster:no:
Just keep doing what your doing.... Stay amazing!

Thanks, Amanda.
Here's a link to the forum at zazzle, in case someone wants to read the replies there (before someone deletes the thread...)

It boggles the mind. However, it is not surprising. The world seems to be dumbing down. Or rather: They feel no shame in being stupid.

Nope, def. they don't feel any shame.
That thread on the zazzle forum is still up, oh wonder, they even left my picture there.
They only deleted one comment, goodness knows why, none of mine, a harmless one from a fellow zazzler.
Weirdness rules!

I saw Swastika in Qatar at the Indian school festival where they displayed a typical Indian village house -it was full of swastikas ...

Well, question is if they learn from it.
I see me posting them anew and they get deleted again in a year :(

That's crazy! Zazzle should have spoken with you prior to removing the items to find out the truth. That insane type of censorship is not acceptable!

And it hits people every day, Typ0.
Most cases are copyright issues.
Someone complains, zazzle, checks and if doubt they remove stuff.
They should have a buffer zone for this stuff.
Oh well, maybe they will change it in my Lifetime. Sometimes they work on some good changes and surprise us with a goodie..... ;)

This doesn't surprise me as the folks at Zazzle seem pretty ignorant about copyright issues, too. As for the Nazi issue, I am not in favour of Nazism, but I am in favour of free speech. They have options for commenting on products, and should leave it at that. They are a tee shirt company, not the thought police. I had a number of products that spoke against the Nazis that were removed, while a shirt that said,
"Mrs. Hitler
Run Jew, Run."
remained until I contacted the ADL.

I am by no means pro Nazi, jennings.

This sign is NOT a Nazi sign. Period.
And that's my point ;)
