The Day After the End of the War
Some say, they left all this the way it is, as a reminder of the war (the Iraqi Invasion). But come on, there’s an entire huge apartment complex, beautiful beaches and an entire village just sitting there and falling apart (well, what’s left of it at least…)

Thanks, Thom. It was fascinating and depressing the same time to visit that island. Posting it today was more an accident. It should have been posted in May 2007, but I was already half asleep. More about Failaka island can be found here.

It's hard for me to imagine but it must be fascinating to see!

I read your other post as well. I am not surprised it sits unsaved. Some one's dream was murdered when the island was destroyed. A new dream needs to be resurrected from the ashes.

I'm surprised someone hasn't tried to open it as a tourist trap or hotel or soemthing.

Thanks, Megan.

Yes, Lisa, it was disturbing and fascinating at the same time.
We were wondering what or who on earth had been in that house or if someone just simply did some target "training".
As far as I know, they are working on it, quilly.
But they should save some things for people to remember.
Typo, Kuwaitis are smart people, but they have no clue about tourism!
Plus, there are still landmines on the island. They can't invite too many tourists without fear that someone blows himself up.
Weil Kuwaitis alleine das nicht auf die Reihe bekommen? Zu viele verschiedene Leute, Familien, Beziehungen, die gaechtet werden muessen?
Keine Ahnung, Ingrid.
