Wish I was here
Bahrain last year. Al Bander Resort. Sigh.
For sure 100% better than that dusty no weather out here in Kuwait, blaeh
Sofitel Dubai
Also named “The Palace” or “Old town".
Don’t let the names fool you.
In Dubai is no City Center and no such thing as old town ![]()
The people delegating the money around in Dubai just decided last year that every city in the West seems to have an old part of town and they needed one too. So they distributed a couple of millions of Dollars into this project.
Seems to work, it looks nice so far - not really old, but it’s a nice try
(We got that information from one of the guys working in the Hotel)
A quick shot out of the cab - Hotel entrance
Day two - wasted

(The pool area at night - not the greatest shot, but hey, it was a handheld Long exposure
)
We had a great evening on day 1.
We used to be Party animals and stay out all night.
Not so much in the last few years. Day 1 was different.
We met a bunch of interesting people and were even lucky enough to meet people from Dubai and have a chat.
We stayed up until 3 a.m. in the morning. Woke up a bit tired and hungover, but had a good breakfast and a nap after that.
But when waking up after the nap my stomach played havoc. I thought it might go away, but at 1 I finally figured it wouldn’t and I had to cancel the desert tour.
We stayed in the room all day and I feel better now. Don’t know what that was all about.
Today we will stroll a bit through Dubai, I guess.
This place is def. a place to go more than once.
Dinner
Hubby’s - he got his Steak - and it was awesome! ![]()

Mine was a plate of Starters - yummie!

Touchdown

It was as dusty and hazy when we landed, but got better the closer we got to the Hotel ![]()
We are in Dubai since this morning.
Someone could have told me that they are in a different time zone ![]()
Dubai is one hour ahead of Kuwait. Didn’t know that.
So far it looks cleaner and more organized than Kuwait. Constructions everywhere but without the trash that we experience in Kuwait.
We spent most of the day at the Pool and chilled.
Tonight we will go out for dinner somewhere.
Hubby graves a good Steak or Mexican.
It’s his birthday, so I hope we find something.
Tomoroow we might go for a desert tour, depending on the feedback of the agents.
And maybe I get to see one of the old souqs.
You all have fun out there and stay safe ![]()
