Views around the corner

Sharm el Sheikh

This shot is a snap from our September Visa trip to El Tur.

You see the tip of Sharm el Sheikh.
Around the corner is the boat harbor.

In front you see some Leftover remnants of the war.

In the far back you see Tiran island.

Do people live on Tiran Island? Are there boats that take one there?

Thanks - Danke :)

@Dan - As far as I know there's only a military station there. But I'm not sure.
Many divers go there.

Too much sand - gets in everything.

You live in such a different world from out here in Australia - but I can relate to the heat and the intense colors of the landscape.

It seems the island is actually property of Saudi Arabia, but leased to Egypt...perhaps as a military camp. But, it appears parts are designated as national park. The divers evidently go for the coral reefs, but it seems it is also a stop-off place for migratory birds. Which is why you need to go there, bird-girl!

@Lou - not when you are inside a car :b

@Mick - I wouldn't mind Australia for a while.
I wish people here would start to love their country and not trash it like they do.
It's so sad to watch :(

@Thom - sorry for the changes. Am still not 100% happy, but I'm getting there ;)

@Stine - I will post tomorrow what the pic looked like before. This is one example of "shall I trash the pic or play with it" ;)

@Dan - I see you did your homework ;D
I didn't know about the lease part.
The military camp on the island is from the MFO (Observers from various countries that shall make sure there's peace here...or something like that :roll: )

I would love to go there, but so far I only found tours that offer boat trips with diving and no strolling around on the island.
They have an Osprey colony there. Go figure how much I itch to get there :>>
