The Nabq Nature protectorate is at the North end of Nabq.
You take the main road until you get to a big Roundabout
and take the dirt road.
It opens at 9am and closes at around 5pm.
Entrance fee is 25LE.

You can get a taxi there, ride with a squad bike
or simply take a long hike.

The area up to the mosque and second barrier has still
mine warnings, so better not leave the road there.

It’s about 2km from the second police post to the Bedouin Cafe
and the mangroves.
You are able to walk along the beach for the whole stretch
and see quite a few birds if you are lucky.

Don’t be surprised to see a lot of trash laying around.
The Cafe and the village is not exactly the nicest sight
around either.

It seems the storm a few weeks back has hit this area quite bad too.
The mangroves are high up in the water, one only can see a few roots
at the beach.
I don’t know what the gate and the fenced in area is for.
Maybe I’ll find out when the flooding is gone.

This time I only went up to the Bedouin village by taxi.
Another day I’ll try something different.

I saw: Kentish Plover, Dunlin, Redshank, Greenshank, Cormorant, White and dark Western Reef Heron, Caspian Tern, Sooty Gull, a few unIDed ones and a Common Kingfisher which posed nicely for me instead of taking flight as they usual do with me

Forgot to add this Photo yesterday to give you a bit more
of a Showcase that there are more plastic bags on the beach than birds:

Something everything a tourist town should have,
as well as a dolphin show.

Both with tiny places to hold the animals.

I will, one of these days, visit both shows.
Just for the picture taking and showing
what’s going on.

Stuff like that makes me pretty angry and sad.
All just for the money.

A cinema in Sharm el Sheikh?

I was thrilled for a second when I saw this.

Then I remembered that it most likely is either
the one that closed down or the 3D movie about Sharm el Sheikh
that they play SOMEWHERE in this place.

This is the Alf Leila Wa Leila ‘park’ with Restaurants
and entertaining.
Haven’t been inside yet, so, can’t tell you how it is.

Oh well.

It made for a nice picture anyway

Saw this Beauty last year in October on our compound.
Did I mention that I still have a bunch of birdies left to ID?

These fellows are usually pretty shy.
This one must have been an exception.
He posed for me nicely before he flew off

The common Redstart is a small bird.
Only about 15cm tall and slim.

Watch for the red tail, grey back, white forehead, black face
and chestnut underparts in the plumage of a male in summer.

Visit more “My world Tuesday” participants

Well, I am still at it.

You know, I have 2 Ext. Harddrives with each close to 300GB and I am using quite a bit of my Laptop storage already.

Go figure that there’;s no room for Backups.

I lost all my Photos once in 2004 and I got an itchy feeling about not having my Photos backed up.
I first wanted to sort them though.

No way, Jose.

So I finally went and got me a 1 Terrabite external Harddrive to Backup the photos and then in peace sort through them.

Well, I got more than I bargained for, since the Harddrive that I got actually does the Backup when I ask it too, but then keeps the Backup up to date whenever I make changes to any connected drives.

I thought I got me just another external storage room. But this is more like a Computer in itself.

I have to say, I am a happy Camper. This makes my Life a whole lot easier

In case you wonder what the wonder toy is:

On a morning in December I went for a walk with the dogs
and had a surprising sight across the street.

Some Bedouins let their camels on the loose.

They do that sometimes and the camels supposedly find
their way back to their owners.

King and JoJo wanted to go and say ‘Hi’.
I didn’t think that was a good idea and held them close.
Hence only these two snapshots

It was a hazy morning when we got to Cairo.

Got this shot of the Cairo tower (wiki Info) when we were waiting to get into the museum.
Tried my Best to make a half decent shot out of it.

Today I’ll be working on some more Cairo shots. Need to get them done one of these days….
