Ras Mohamed, South Sinai, Egypt

Ras Mohamed is a nature preserve in South Sinai, Egypt, near Sharm el Sheikh.

It’s a beautiful little paradise where you can breathe some fresh air and find some hidden corners away from the tourists, if you want to.

You can go there by car (either rent one or arrange a driver). Entrance fee is 25EGP per person (unless you are a local, then it’s, I think, 5EGP).

You can also camp there, registering at the information building, if I remember correct.

Many boats leave from Sharm el Sheikh (either from the Old market or from Naama bay) to go out here for snorkeling and diving tours.

Sadly many tourists don’t respect the fact that this is a nature preserve and destroy corals and leave trash behind and is threatened by overfishing.

It’s a great place for birding, especially during migration.
