I was on my way to the airport after a long a** walk around the bay and to the Red Fort. I was hoping to see some birds I saw on a drive-by the last time we were in Bahrain and instead found the bay with all the great shore-birds. But you know how tired you can get of these fellows after a while.
So I asked the big voice out there to PLEASE give me something before I go back ‘home’.

He gave me a crested lark,…. nice,…. but I know them already.
Ok,….
I hear something annnnnddddd see something.
But it was across the darn main street and I was already running on a tight time schedule for the plane, so 4 shots all sort of from the back is all I got.

Red-vented Bulbul, Rußbülbül, Pycnonotus cafer

But it seems I got my wish. :)

Also called Western Reef-Heron.

I was lucky enough to get the two forms (White Morph and dark Morph) close enough for a decent photo while I was in Bahrain.

I will have to check, if these are from the race schistacea, where the dark Morph is more blue grey.

You can find more Infos over at Birdforum.
