The Wood Sandpiper is another first for me, thanks to Kuwait :)

The bird is around 18-21cm tall and has a Wing span of 35-39cm. They usually breed on bogs and marshes in taiga. They winter mainly in Africa and are to be seen on migration in areas with coastal or marshes and shallow pools.

In Kuwait the Wood Sandpiper is a common passage migrant, rare to be seen in summer & winter.

Now, enjoy some of the antics I could watch on the golf course some weeks back :)

Not sure if it’s breeding behavior or just two males getting the spring fever.

Common Chiffchaff, Zilpzalp, Phylloscopus collybitus

One of the tiny, fast, drive me crazy, little birds that you so want to get a decent photo of: The Common Chiffchaff (Phylloscopus collybitus)  ;)

A beautiful fellow, quite easy to spot in his (her) adult form. Male and female look very similar, the male is overall darker and has more black on his forehead. The Juv. is more greyish / white and lacks the black and brown.

He is a whole 17-19cm long and breeds in open wooded areas with glades, some cultivations and trees, preferring fruit orchards. Requires some sandy or bare ground in his territory.
