It look a bit gloomy in this photo. The weather wasn’t really on my Site that day.
Another shot taken from above the Genovevaburg (the big tower right in front here is part of it), direction ‘Knueppchen’. A small hill straight ahead. On top you see one of my former schools, the ‘ Megina Gymnasium’. You can see it, if you look along the street. The tower you see along that street to the right is the ‘Obertor’. One of the towers left of the wall (Stadtmauer) that surrounded the city for protection in medieval times. During my schildhood it housed the library (not sure where it is now). Today it houses a collection of carnival (Fastnacht / Karneval) articles, like costumes and old photos. Pretty fascinating, but sadly only open on special events like the one we had that week (Stein & Burgfest).

This is beautiful. I’ve always wanted to go there! Actually, I would love to go on a European Tour. Too bad it’s so much money from Canada
Great shot of a beautiful place. I would like to go to Germany for a longer visit of more of the country than the time I had briefly there.
Oh , bad weather like this is best to shoot bright flowers.
Oh a bright day, bright flowers can be very difficult to take.
Just got back from a short break in France.
Mayen is a wonderful small town in a very beautiful German region. I’ve been twice there and in much more ocasions in the region too. Germany is a great country, nice, clean, gentle people and nice nature!
Hi there – I actually like the more toned down colours in this picture – not everything needs to look like Disneyland!
Cheers – SM
